The 2016 Assam floods were caused by heavy rains over the Indian state of Assam in July 2016. The flooding has affected 1.8 million people, and flooded the Kaziranga National Park.^[1] As of 1 August 2016, 28 people had been killed as a result of the flooding starting 17 July, according to a report by the State Disaster Management Authority.^[2]V
